The Importance of Chiropractic Care

In the realm of holistic health, well-being encompasses far more than simply what's on our plates. It's about understanding the intricate relationships between our body's systems and nurturing them to thrive in harmony.

As an NTP, I've witnessed firsthand the profound impact that a holistic approach can have on one's overall health and vitality. I'm thrilled to dive into a deeply resonating topic with this holistic philosophy—chiropractic care. I often suggest chiropractic care to my clients as an additional way to help support their bodies through the healing process. Chiropractic care, with its focus on restoring alignment and optimizing nervous system function, embodies this holistic belief in the body's innate capacity to heal when provided with the right support and environment.

I had the privilege of sitting down with Dr. Anthony Cutting at Active Chiropractic in Meridian Idaho whose insights shed light on the transformative potential of chiropractic care. Dr. Cutting also goes into detail about his specialty; The Zone Technique.

Here’s what Dr. Cutting had to say…

Can you tell us a little about yourself and why you became a chiropractor?

Originally, I wanted to attend the Air Force or Naval Academy and be a pilot. However, I lost the hearing in my left ear at the age of 15 and no longer could pursue a career in the Military. My family and I received Chiropractic care and it had really helped me with sports injuries from youth and high school sports, so I decided to pursue that route instead.

What exactly is chiropractic care? I think a lot of people go in just thinking that we’re going to get “cracked” but can you explain what’s actually happening?

Chiropractic care is the Science and Art of balancing the nervous system. In doing so, Chiropractic adjustments take the body from a place of threat/Sympathetic Fight or Flight to Ease and Peace/Parasympathetic Healing and Recovery. The adjustment removes interference in the nervous system, allowing the brain and the body to communicate freely again. This enables you to heal and recover.

Who is chiropractic care for?

Chiropractic care is for health-conscious individuals who are motivated to work together with their Chiropractor to find solutions to what’s holding them back and who are ready to heal from pain and injury, be more productive, care for those who depend on them, better meet the demands of life, and get back to being their best self.

How does chiropractic care contribute to overall health and wellness?

Chiropractic allows the optimal healing potential of the body to be expressed. Additionally, Chiropractors are trained in various specialties and may use ancillary therapies and services to hasten your recovery and healing. This includes but is not limited to myofascial and soft tissue therapies, Functional Rehabilitative Exercises, and Lifestyle management with health tips and education.

Can you explain the Zone Technique and how it differs from traditional chiropractic methods?

Traditional Chiropractic locates misaligned segments in the spine that are causing interference in the nervous system, thereby creating a state of Threat or Dis-Ease which leads to various injuries and illnesses. By adjusting these areas, the Chiropractor removes the interference so that the messages traveling back and forth from the brain and body via the nervous system can communicate unhindered, allowing the body to heal and recover. Zone Technique takes this one step further in stating, “What if the brain itself is unbalanced and therefore cannot adequately do its job to control and coordinate the body to heal, even if the misalignments in the spine are freed up”? By both balancing the brain and clearing the nervous system interference in the spine, Zone Technique even more completely moves the body into Healing Mode again.

What drew you to specialize in the Zone Technique?

At the age of 21, I began a frightening 11-year journey where my health deteriorated, dealing not only with progressive hearing loss in my right ear (which had been the “good ear”), but also developing symptoms such as vertigo, tinnitus, whole-body muscle and joint pain, migraines, and digestive issues.

Despite seeking care from every type of medical provider I could think of, trying one diet after another, prescription medications, supplements, and experimental surgeries I could not find a lasting solution. It was a very frustrating, scary, and dark period of my life.

Finally, in 2017, I discovered the Zone Technique of Chiropractic and began my journey back to health. With the Zone Technique gradually balancing and stabilizing my body over the ensuing year and a half, I was able to heal and recover from all of my symptoms, with the exception of my hearing loss (although the right side did recover from 40% loss to 20% loss). I decided I had to learn the Zone Technique and help others with this amazing care.

Can you provide examples of conditions or symptoms that the Zone Technique has been particularly effective in addressing?

Every cell in the body is found in one or more of the 6 Functional Brain Centers in the Zone Technique. Therefore, almost all injury or illness can be traced back to dysfunction in one or more of the Zones. It has been effective for helping with a wide range of conditions, from Neck and Back pain, Ankle Sprains, Digestive Issues, Migraines, Autoimmune Issues, Mood Disorders, and More!

How do you assess which Zones of the body may need attention in a patient’s treatment plan?

There are six points at the back of the skull that serve as indicators for each of the Zones. Using a finger to objectively assess tension and receiving subjective feedback from the patient on tenderness, I can accurately, quickly, and non-invasively determine which Zone is the primary or most unbalanced and needs to be worked on at that given visit. I re-check the Zones at the beginning and end of each visit. At the end of each visit, the Zones will balance and clear, and over the course of a treatment plan, they will stabilize as the body heals.

If someone is interested in scheduling an appointment with you, how can they find you, and what would be the process of getting established as a new patient?

You can call our office directly at 208-593-2001 or go online to activechiropracticmeridian.com to schedule a consultation with me. I am also on social media @activechiromeridian on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Tik Tok. I’d love to hear your story and see if we may be a great fit to work together.

10. How can someone find a chiropractor who specializes in the Zone Technique if they don’t live in the Treasure Valley?

There is a Directory of Zone Technique Certified Providers here.

There you have it. A simple overview of chiropractic care to help you feel confident in deciding if that might be a great option to add to your wellness routine. As you can see, there are so many benefits to chiropractic care and the Zone Technique. If you have more questions or would like to learn more valuable information, reach out to Dr. Cutting and give them a follow on social media!
